What’s new for April 2024 at the Roundhouse? A quick roundup
It’s been a busy couple of weeks up here at The Roundhouse. It’s constantly evolving as more of our facilities are completed and opened to the public.
Below are the latest updates to our fantastic community centre this month:-
We are recruiting Leisure Assistants at The Roundhouse!
Part time seasonal roles available.
Are you looking for a new challenge? Can you provide excellent customer service? Do you prefer having a variety of tasks? Then this may be the job for you.
Our leisure assistants will provide day to day care of the building and surroundings. Individuals need to have a strong customer focus with a passion for inclusion. They will access the booking system for soft play, sports hall and various functions and prepare relevant areas for usage.
The role requires cleaning and restocking of communal areas, toilets and changing facilities. Experience of Health & Safety, COSHH, First Aid and Fire procedures would be advantageous but full training will be given. As there is a requirement for staff members to complete similar tasks at other locations throughout the parish and transport equipment, a driving licence is essential to the role.
There is a mix of daytime, evening and weekend working on rotation with one in three weekends off. The hours of work are variable per week and attract an hourly rate of £12.01.

Rotunda – available to hire
Are you looking for a training venue? The Rotunda – Our multi purpose room is the ideal training venue.
Prices start at £30 per hour for short bookings. Or you could take advantage of our day rate – 9 hours at £200 + VAT.

Sensory Garden – Volunteers sought- on Thursday 2nd at 10am & Friday 3rd May at 5pm
We are looking for volunteers to help plant our sensory garden on 2nd & 3rd May.

Walking Track
It’s taken a little while but our 500m walking track is now open! Feel free to walk, run or scoot around it – open 24/7.
Come & get some laps in!
Handball
Fantastic Progress here at the Roundhouse for the Isle of Man Handball Association. We had the official handball markings go down (light blue) and the goals are up. Thanks to Mick Hegarty for working with the PICA team.
Making the Roundhouse a home for handball has been our pleasure. We offer stability for our regular clubs and hall users.
Anyone interested in holding lunchtime sports or classes, there is space available on weekdays, we have had lots of enquiries.
Soft Play
The Soft Play is now available for children aged 5 & under. Our fantastic facility is located on the ground floor of the Rotunda and to make life easier, you can book in advance online!
Sessions run every day, starting on the half hour from 8.30am, the final session starts at 6.30pm. It costs just £3 per child per session.

Top Playground for smaller children is open – now with picnic tables
Probably one of the sunniest spots in Braddan! Bring drinks & snacks and enjoy the picnic tables.
Therapy Room/Barber Station
Are a you barber or hair stylist looking for a space?
Our community hub comprises Pharmacy, Beauty Therapy, Soft Play, Cafe, Sports Hall, Nursery, Gym, Sensory Hub, Function Room, Dentist and is home to Braddan Commissioners Office. There are lots of outdoor facilities too, such as a patio, play park, 500m walking track, village green and sensory garden.
We have a therapy room available for hire for a seven year term. Floor space is approximately 26sqm as pictured The Roundhouse is positioned off the Ballaoates Road near to Strang Stores. Rental is £8000 + VAT per annum, plus service charge and insurance.
The centre opening hours are 8am until late every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day.

Bike Rack
Our new bike rack is now available for all visitors and staff to use. Located at the front of the building on the left.
Caught short kits – Periods
We are so pleased to be able offer sanitary products in all five of our accessible/family toilets for those times when you just might need it.
There is no need to ask, just look for the discreet white box and take what you need to get you through.
Periods shouldn’t be a barrier to participation.
Well done to ‘@Ez’ Junior Achievement Isle of Man for their recent work to help those experiencing period poverty.
